This morning I was back at the hall by 10:30, (my ride was an hour late - not unusual here), and we had our Sabbath service. One of the local men, Mr. Andang gave a good sermonette message, and then I gave the sermon on the topic of peace, interior and with our entourage. After services, I met with the group from Yaoundé and showed them a PowerPoint presentation about UCG's work in various parts of the world. They were very excited to see how wide-ranging our international work is and how important we consider our scattered members to be. After this long visit, I had some counseling sessions with a number of other church members: health problems, family challenges, employment difficulties, the kinds of trials Christians face all over the world, but against the backdrop of the extreme poverty and corruption of the country there is always an especially poignant desperation that runs through such situations. I was back at the hotel just before dinner time, and hungry since I hadn't eaten since an early breakfast.
