Friday, mid-morning, I went with Mr. Munian to see a possible Feast of Tabernacles site in Grand Baie. It's called the Hotel Ventura within walking distance of the center of the town of Grand Baie itself. The rooms are pleasant if small, and clean, with air-conditioning. The meeting hall is large enough for 50 or 60 people at least and would be air-conditioned as well. The restaurant looked very nice, and our talk with the chef left us convinced that the cuisine would be very fine. The direction will be refurbishing much of hotel starting next month, so it should all be ready (including the pool) well before we would use it.

The hotel is also just a short walk from "la cuvette" beach, one of the most beautiful and well known beaches on an island famous for its beautiful beaches. The white sand and the turquoise water of the Indian Ocean make for a stunning tableau. The Mauritians are hoping to attract some visitors to spend that time with them, and I think Grand Baie is the kind of place that visitors would find very attractive and inexpesive as well once they get to Mauritius (which admitedly isn't inexpensive). Following our visit, we had to drive back to Quatre Bornes so Mr. Munian could go back to his job.

Back in Quatre Bornes, I got caught up on some "office" work on my laptop, and had a quick bite of lunch, then drove back to Grand Baie on my own to have another look around. I checked out some possible activities for visitors, prices and the like, and tried to think of all the questions people might ask. I had stayed there before last summer, so I knew of an Cyber-café (without the café) where I could plug in my laptop and send and receive e-mail, which I did. I had an early dinner in Grand Baie as the sun set over the ocean, and I though about what a beautiful site this would be for the Feast of Tabernacles. I called my wife on my cell phone to share the scene with her and tell her I was thinking of her.

Then it was back to the hotel where I again had an early evening since my jet lag was still waking me up at 3am or so every morning.
