This evening at 6:00 pm I took a taxi into town to The Pirate Arms. I was a few minutes early and waited off the side for the people to come. While I waited, a drunk tried to walk in the restaurant, and the big security guard at the door had to gently move him back out again. I did my best to stay clear.  Three people, one woman and two men, arrived right at 7:00. We greeted each other and moved over to the Justice Building on the corner. There were several benches out front and we sat there and talked for about 90 minutes.  They all came from a Catholic background. Two of them were very interested, the other was mostly curious. They had many questions: was Satan a real being, or just the representation of evil? How do you get 3 days and 3 night between Friday and Sunday, and if that doesn't work then what does? Where do Christmas and Easter come from? If we shouldn't observe them, then what should we observe? How do we know the Holy Days fall? Does God approve of pilgrimages? Does it do any good to pray to Mary? If we don't go to heaven when we die, then what happens? When to the resurrections occur? What happened to Jesus when He was dead and in the tomb?

I could see the woman in particular had done a lot of reading and was beginning to understand things. I suggested several more booklets and offered to subscribe her to the United News and to our sermon CDs, which she accepted with joy. I appeared very much to me that God was opening her mind. We shall see.

After they left, about 8:30, I had dinner at the Pirate Arms, they had some live musicians playing very well, a kind of Cajun flavored music. I don't know if it was imported, or if that style developed here too.

Back at the hotel after dinner, I tried to get the wireless Internet to work. It hadn't worked up until then, because they didn't know the network key which had recently been reset. It came to me that they might just have put "password," as is sometimes the generic word in the US. It worked! I told the hotel manager about the key, and he thanked me profusely. Then he asked me what I did for a living. He was curious, I was staying in an inexpensive hotel out of the way and people kept calling me on the phone. That is unusual of both business people and tourists. He said he thought at first maybe I was a drug dealer.... I explained that I worked for a Church and was here for that reason. Then everything made sense.  Apparently there is some overlap in our travel profiles!
There was still a problem with the Internet. I could connect to the network, but I still couldn't get access to the Internet.

Hey Dad!
I think it's wonderful that you were able to help that lady! Once again, it's always amazing to see how God works with people all over the world, even places in the middle of nowhere! I also think it's hilarious that the hotel manager thought you were a drug dealer! That's definitely one for your book! Love you lots and take care!
