I'm writing from the Air France lounge in terminal M, which for some reason they insist on considering part of Terminal E even though it’s a building distantly separated from Terminal E. I’m sure there is some logic behind this nomenclature, but I can’t spot it at the moment.

In any event, I’ve started another pastoral trip through Africa, with a few days in France at the end, so I can take care of some legal paperwork. I’ll be flying west to east: Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Congo (DRC), Burundi, Rwanda, Mauritius – a beautiful island in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Madagascar – and then finally France. The trip should last 3 weeks.

It has been six months since I visited most of these countries, so it will be good to get together with church members in each place. I’ll do my best to keep the travel blog current to share news of what happens on this trip.

Europe has been having unusual winter weather these past days, Frankfurt Airport shut down operations two or three days ago because of heavy snowfall, and trains and planes were snarled in Belgium as well. It’s just below freezing here in Paris, and I can see snow covering the ground around the airport and large mounds of snow on the sides of taxiways where the plows piled it up. I can be certain there won’t be any snow waiting for me when I deplane in Abidjan!
