We had awoken in the morning with the bass-line of 'Thriller' echoing in our heads but well rested, the real concern was whether we would be able to cross the border ok without our expired visas being checked.
The rain was still smashing us, and as we approached the check point we soon realized there was not a person in sight. We slinked through like a couple of bandits and were greatly relieved that our Bigwig adventure had not been uprooted.
In Menton, the first French town on the coast, we stopped to check out the place. Already we can see the change in atmosphere. We fought off the beating rain into the town centre and had to scurry in and out of shops quickly so not to get too wet. After peeping into a market we were reacquainted with le frommage! After several months of expensive cheese, we soon hurried back to the van to devour the cheese we still had so that we could justify buying more. France dominates when it comes to cheese so the frommage adventure continues!
Just around the coast we can see Monaco and Monte-Carlo, cool new stuff ahead of us.
