We aimed ourselves for the day to visit a little medieval hilltop town Montepulciano, this one with an awesome greek cross duomo which is a well known pilgrimage church.
We had spent the evening on the next mountain over looking out at the town as the sun set over it. So beautiful.
In the morning when we got up into the town however, we were suddenly confronted with lots of 'Twilight' memorabilia. Turns out this town was the set of the girly crazed teen vampire movie ‘New Moon’. Anyway, it’s the scene where all the old European vampires are having their red little festival, while teen heart-throb Edward tries to commit suicide by walking into the sun! We tried to recreate the scene with a less heart-throbby man, but to not such a great effect!

We visited the cathedral in the main piazza which is a 10th century church with a rather weathered fašade. Inside was a very ghoulish experience, Jena felt very uncomfortable inside and needed to leave. It had a very unsettling air about it.

Later we wandered down the hill to the pilgrimage church called the Tempo Di San Biagio, which was a glorious little place with a much better feel. We spent a lot of time in and around it. Later when we drove back up onto the hill we decided to snatch a spot that would overlook the duomo. It was very special.

That evening we visited a few cellardoors in Montepulciano and watched the sunset over the church in the evening before going to bed.

The woman at the cellardoor was very pessimistic about the twilight fame brought to the town. She said she is not even interested in seeing the film.
