Cool Desert Park and Zoo

Left a very beautiful RV park, headed Route 64 and 180.  Stopped at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens.  It had potential, but since our luck disappeared this morning, this was a BUST.  Most of the exhibits were being renovated, and a good part of the park was inaccessible.  But they charged us the full entrance fee anyway.  UnAmerican.  The pictures will tell the story, and I only picked out a few of the ones that we took.

We also wanted drive through the Guatalupe Mountain National Park, but, guess what....CLOSED which we knew already, but pissed off about it.  So we drove the 150 miles from Carlsbad, to El Paso, where there is absolutely nothing.  No gas stations, retail, restaurants, wildlife, traffic, or anything.  Wow.  Well, actually, once in a great while you would see a small ranch way off in the distance with a dirt road leading to it, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone would actually go out there and try to scratch out a living.

So, we got to El Paso, which Jay told us there wasn't much there. What?  It's a huge city, ugly as the girl your mother says "has personality", and goes forever.  Couldn't wait to get outta there, Interesting that it looked exactly like a lot of the towns in Mexico.  What's with that?

Tomorrow we're headed toward White Sands, but here again, there's a bunch of National parks and monuments that would be great to see, but CLOSED.  Who do I sue for this?
