Where I stayed
We decided to splurge in Koh Samet (an island in the bay south of Bangkok). We stayed two nights at an upscale resort called Ao Prao. Lonely Planet gave it a good review, and we were very happy with our experience. Cottages were nice, had a view of the beach, staff was friendly, and the restaurants were great. We played on the beach, went on a 3 hour snorkeling trip one day, got massages, and ate nice meals. On the second night, for dinner I ordered yellow curry with chicken and coconut milk. We were eating at an amazing restaurant called Buzz (part of the resort). My dinner tasted great but it gave me about 24 hours of Bangkok Belly. Nobody else ordered the same dinner and nobody else got the intestinal crud.
