Friday September 4th

I can hardly believe this is October already....I am behind in the Blogging due to travel and family and great times!!!  Read on!!!

Andy and I got to Jackrabbit Campgrounds just in time to spend the weekend with families having their last summer hurrah over the Labor Day Weekend.  Children were the name of the game and that means bikes everywhere, games being played everywhere including under our RV and thru our site came running kids in hot pursuit of "the pirate" or "the man" or whoever!!  It was noisy and wild!  The smells in the air for all three nights and all four days included every kind of BBQ you can imagine as well as potatoes, onions, hot dogs, hamburgers, steaks, baked beans, then on to bacon, eggs, pancakes, syrup and sausages!!  it was torture smelling all that and then tucking in to our yogurt and nuts or relishing a green salad with some poached chicken breasts!!!  I know....to eat well is delicious but the smells of fat and sugar and beef are soooo enticing!!!

We survived it all by hiking and biking in this great park.  The Jackrabbit Campground is in the Nantahala National Forest of North Carolina.  Jackrabbit sits on the shore of Lake Chatuge...yes the same Lake Chatuge we stayed at on the Georgia side at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds Camp.  Very cool!  This side is super natural with thousands of acres of forest.  SABA Southern Appalachian Biking Association has been creating and maintaining the bike trails here in Jackrabbit for many years.  Their work is very valuable!!  There are miles of excellent trails from beginner to expert in level of experience and all is well marked.  We had a blast!!!  My legs were like rubber bands by the end of a run....and all I wanted to do was go again!  Really really fun!!  What a fantastic way to get and stay in shape!!  AND...all this along the lake so if we got too hot....we just jumped in!

We will be back to this treasure spot for sure!!!
