Back to the beach in Broome - and more body boarding - except for one day when there were croc warnings! Broome is a town on the back-packers route so felt old. Not so when we continued down the coast as this is a place where the retired folk in their caravans come for the sun (and they iron their clothes and put their hair in curlers!). It was on this coast that we saw the "Stairway to the Moon" - a full moon rising over the shoreline at low tide creates an illusion of a golden staircase to the moon. - camera not good enough to capture unfortunately.
Then inland to Karijini National Park where we had some really good walks through the gorges. A dingo came to see us when we were cooking curry - obvioulsy liked the smell of chicken tikka masala - he had really scary eyes
The country side is like something from a western movie and you expect to see John Wayne on one side and the red indians ( probably not pc) on the other. It is red dirt that gets everywhere. The area is also rich in minerals and seems to be owned by Rio Tinto or BHP. We have passed thru some huge mining areas and some very, very wide mining machinery that takes up both lanes on the road. (evidently 200 tons!) A tourist attraction is a visit to the mines - not one that we did.
We have "for sale" signs on the motorhome as we are on the last part of our tour of Australia and plan to be back in Perth at the end of August - lots more to see meanwhile.
