Day three of our road trip and we are up early as breakfast is from 7.30 to 8.30 every day in the Comfort Inn; except that it isn't! The times have changed and it is actually 8 till 9.30 but just before 8am we help ourselves to cereal and then get ignored so we pack up. They try to charge us again for the prepaid room, so we don’t mention the two bowls of cereal!

Once on the road we head down to Cape Bridgewater just along the coast which has a lovely beach with a café right on the beach where we finally get breakfast. It seems a nice area and the café does lunch and dinner too so we would recommend this as a stop instead of Port Fairy.

Next we head for Portland, which seems very industrial so we keep going to Mount Gambier which is based around extinct volcanoes. There are lakes, caves and a garden created from a collapsed sinkhole.  We have a quick lunch there and a walk about then off to Robe where we are staying at Grey Masts book and coffee shop with a self-catering cottage attached.

Robe is a beautiful little town, the beach is spotless, long beach on one side of town is 10km long on the other side is an obelisk dating from the 1850s used as a warning to shipping. The sea is a wonderful turquoise colour and a lot less powerful than at the apostles.

After a walk round town we stop for a Chinese dinner then a quiet night in front of the TV.
