Today our trip ashore is at Fengdu the Ghost City. It is a collection of Buddhist and Taoist temples on Ming Mountain. The old town of Fengdu is now submerged and has been relocated to the opposite bank.
The temples and statues on Fengdu are in the main new reproductions other than for the last at the top of 400 steps!
The whole set up is based on the steps souls have to take to pass over and the various tests they take on the way. There is a bureaucracy to go through and punishments are doled out if you fail the tests. The various landmarks have names reflecting this, Ghost Torturing Pass, No Way Out Bridge and Last Glance to Home!!
As most of the places are new builds, we did feel that this was an excursion we could have missed but it was another interesting insight and we were once again of interest to the local tourists, lots of whom wanted their photos taken with us.
Back onboard we head of to Chonqing and sail along more stunning scenery. A really relaxing few days mid tour. There have been talks on board, a beauty salon with excellent masseurs. Shops are not too dear and we have been well looked after
Tonight is the Captain's Gala Dinner so we get waited on and the dining room has been decorated, the staff are in costume and it is all very jolly.
