With our guide Mundu we leave at 5.45am whilst it is still dark and quite cold, the blankets supplied on the jeeps are very welcome!

There are 8/9 people in each jeep so we all see different things, but we are lucky just after entering the Chobe Park a lioness and her cub walk straight in front of us! So fast there is no time to get focused with the camera but we did see her. We spent three hours driving round the park and saw plenty of Impala who have lovely markings including what looks like an M on their rear end which the guide said was for McDonalds as they are the fast food for most of the hunters in the park!

We spotted a group of giraffe and were told the collective term is a journey of giraffe; several warthogs who are so ugly they are cute, and numerous birds including Marabou storks and guinea fowl.

Then we were back to the hotel for breakfast and a rest at the side of the pool before setting off at 3pm for an evening river safari. Our guide this time is Lungu who is one of the more experienced guides at our lodge and was the guide for Bill Clinton when he stopped at the Mowana Lodge!

The boat gave us wonderful views of elephant, cape buffalo and hippo drinking at the river's edge. We also saw African fish eagle and a couple of very large crocodiles.

After watching a beautiful sunset we are back at the lodge in time for another excellent buffet. There is always a "game" option such as Kudu and Impala; these have to be brought into the country as Botswana does not allow game farming.
