I love Barra de Navidad, it reminded me a lot of home. After a short trip from Tenacatita we arrived in Barra, we passed the jetty entrance and headed toward the lagoon where we would anchor for the next several days. The locals were collecting shellfish from Pangas all over the lagoon entrance and had divers in the water with an oldschool line running from a compressor over to the diver. Not only were there divers to watch for but because of holding pens for shellfish which are on shallow shoals all over the lagoon the channel which goes into the lagoon was EXTREMELY shallow and narrow. We actually touched keel to sand at one point, really, really shallow and narrow. Everything was fine though and we got into the lagoon easy enough. Like I said Barra reminded me a lot of home, big but small town. Everyone seemed to know eachother and said hi as they passed, surfshops, markets, cafes, and shops were all pretty centrally located. We all agreed that this is a place we could definetly spend a lot of time in.
