Today a delightful road trip with Joan's cousin Arnold and his wife.  We pass windmills and 1 of Brugges original gates crossing the outer moat.

First a stop in the small town of Westrozebeke which is where Joan's Grandpa and Great Grandpa were from.

Next a visit to the City of Ypres (Ieper).  Pretty much destroyed during WW 1 as it sat right between the German and Allied lines, since restored.  In surrounding fields "Flanders Fields where poppies grow......." are monuments, 170 military cemeteries, old pillboxes and trenches.  There are also occasionally unexploded shells uprooted by farmers !

Finally a little relaxation, including wine, beer, and fish soup, on the coast of the North Sea in the City of Oostende.
