After KL it was onto the town of Melaka, further south on the west coast. This town has nice cobbled roads and it really very pretty in parts but they seem to have forgotten pavements, which makes walking a bit dangerous at time!
Sightseeing here seemed to be churches, churches and more churches! We visited Christ Church (where we were looking for a brass bible - only to discover all info printed about Melaka is wrong as it's a brass bible stand, not a brass bible. Not nearly as exciting.) We also visited St Francis Xavier's Church and St Paul's Church (where St Francis Xavier was buried before being moved to Goa where you can actually view his hundreds of years old body - a pleasure I missed out on while in Goa!) The best part was Jonker Street in China Town which in a lovely street with nice little boutiques and souvenir shops.
After only 2 nights in Melaka it was time to leave my new friends and move on, to the town of Johor Bahru, to catch my flight to Borneo.
