After getting a six hour boat ride down the mekong delta ($20) to battambang from siem reap, one thing was in need of...beer!o

The boat wasn't as luxury as we were promised. It was tiny, no top deck and stopped loads to pick up the locals.. But it actually turned out to be a bit more fun. With the locals on board it meant we were stopping at floating villages along the way dropping them off at their houses. Kids would run out and wave at us, so excited to see us and they were so cute!

We met a nice girl from the Scottish highlands called Emily travelling alone and some german people and a Swiss girl. We arranged to meet them for dinner before leaving the boat in search of a hostel. Managed to find a really nice double
room, cleaner than the last and with hot water this time for $10 - a bit above our budget but worth it...

Met the others for nice meal and a few beers and agree to see them the next night too. Back to the room so Jo can watch the new series of Homeland!

The next day we had the best sleep in our nice room, woke up late and walked to the central market. Here we bought our breakfast, big bunch of bananas, some oranges and a mango- we are trying to cut down on money and eating so much! We ate this by the river the walked to
Nearby temple and to see some of the colonial style buildings famous for this area..

Then we got a tuktuk to the bamboo train. A hilarious bit a Cambodian culture, made out of (you guessed it) bamboo to help locals transport food to nearby areas this has now become the areas main attraction..its like a dodgy old fairground ride from Blackpool! Jo was terrified! It was so much fun! We stopped halfway to see the sunset but it was cloudy but had a chat and a beer with some locals who had come out as it was a public holiday for them.

Then we went to a circus put on by a local charity, they had a Cambodian rock band, a contortionist, 2 mean Diablo artists and some (not very confident) gymnasts...it was a nice night and met up with Emily and Germans again..tea and beers and back to plan how to get to next location tomorrow..
