We got the ferry to Koh Tao from Koh Phangan but it was verry wavy. Loads of people felt sea sick and went up top but that just made the boat rock even more! We got 4 nights free accomodation with our scuba diving course and our room was massive! :)
We spent the next 2 days learning basic scuba skills in the pool and learning the theory. On the 3rd day we got to do our first sea dive. We did 2 dives, one where whale sharks supposedly hang out- but we didn't see any :( We finally got the knack of equalising and saw a stingray and lots of fish :) The next day we did another 2 dives. The sea was pretty rough on the first one and everyone felt seasick. Getting off the boat with heavy scuba gear was a bit of a mission! We made it down to 18m which was pretty cool, Jo had fun following a parrot fish till it pooed in her face- friendly! We went out with our scuba team to celebrate passing the course!
After the course we moved to a hostel. We spent one day doing a boat trip around the island, stopping off to snorkel on the way. We also visited a small island off the coast of Koh Tao which was beautiful :)
There was a local 'cinema' that screened one film a day and we checked the boards every day hoping to see Harry Potter. It was finally screened the evening left! darn it!
