The last stop on our 5 day excursion was to Aachen, Germany. We
didn't spend too much time here. We got there and immediately
went on a tour of the cathedral there. We got to see both the
cathedral and the cathedral treasury, which has many interesting
religious artifacts from the past. Some of the stuff was really
cool, plus we had a great tour guide who knew just about
everything. The actual cathedral was extremely pretty. It
was very ornately decorated but it still wasn't over-decorated.
Lots of gold accents everywhere. Plus we visited on a special day
because the chandelier was lit and it is only lit 10 times a
year. We also got to see the throne of Charlemagne, who was very
active in Aachen in this cathedral.
After the tour, we had about an hour of free time. I went
souvenir shopping for a bit and then sat down to eat more ice cream (I
picked a really good flavor this time!). Finally we boarded the
buses again and made the long journey back to Marburg. By the
time we got back in town, we were all SUPER exhausted, so we got some
very good Greek food, and went home to bed in order to rest up for
classes the next day.
