Since we didn't have anywhere we needed to be, we took our time getting ready and left Salinas, Kansas about 11am. We headed east on I-70 towards Kansas City. Although the weather was perfect and much better than the week before, it was a tough drive because it was sooooooo boring. No radio stations, and over 250 miles of slightly rolling hills with dead grass. Indiana has a similar topography, but for some reason it seems more interesting.

We didn't have anything on the agenda that we wanted to see or do today, except Brent wanted to try some famous Missouri BBQ so we stopped at Gates BBQ when we went through Kansas City. Brent ordered the combo platter for about 9 people and he ate ribs, beef and pork and what looked like a whole loaf of Wonderbread. I thought the place was really divey but he loved it, he said it had character.

We continued east towards St. Louis, by now it was gettting dark, only 250 miles left to go. On the way home, I got a little sad because I wasn't ready for our road trip to end. Several times along the way I tried to talk Brent into taking another route. Maybe we could go to Little Rock, see Graceland or maybe spend New Years up in Chicago. He didn't bite and kept driving on I-70.

We ended up getting home in Indianapolis about 10:30pm and we unpacked the car. Surprisingly, we were pretty tired after an uneventful day and 11 hours in the car, but before we went to bed we had to check the lottery tickets that we bought in Colorado, New Mexico and Kansas. Unfortunatley we did not win the Powerball in any of the 3 states. I guess it's back to work for us and that put an end to our cross country adventure for now.

We realized on our 9 day, 3000+ mile road trip that we were really good road buddies and while in Kansas we already planned out our next long distance road trip which will include: Salt Lake City, Cheyenne, Boise, Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland. Can't wait!

So here ends our Norwegian Christmas vacation. Thanks so much for joining us on our cross country road trip, we'll be sure to include you in on our adventures next time!
