Brent and I have been busy the last couple of days.

Christmas Eve we walked around and visited the little shops in downtown Silver City. This is the cutest little town! Silver City is only about 12,000 people and has a really eclectic mix of people and stores. We took a break and checked our email at my favorite coffee shop that has the coolest atmosphere. Mis-matched chairs, crazy coffee drinks and lots of board games. Christmas Eve we also worked at my mom's kitchen store in downtown Silver City. It was really busy and we had customers until about 5pm. She sells household kitchen items kinda like a mini Sur La Table.

Christmas Day we made our lefse and our rhubarb strawberry jam, right out of the Norwegian cookbooks. Lefse is a Norwegian potato bread that resembles a tortilla. I bought all of my lefse making supplies including a grill, rolling pin, and ricer on my recent trip to Minnesota. It's a tedious 2 day process but we had a blast. The jam was great as well and just like grandma used to make.

Today we explored the Gila National Forest and the Gila Cliff Dwellings. The national forest starts outside my parents backyard but we had to drive about an hour to get to the Cliff Dwellings. The drive was so worth it and the scenery was amazing. Almost impossible to capture with a digital camera. We hiked some and headed home to have drinks at Isaac's one of my favorite independent restaurants in Silver City.

Tomorrow we are on the road again and headed for Santa Fe, New Mexico for a couple of days then we will work our way back to Indianapolis.
