We arrived in Silver City, New Mexico about 7pm on Sunday night.  We made it to our destination!

We left Amarillo about 9am on Sunday morning.  As we were leaving town we saw the Cadillac Ranch sculpture just off of the interstate.  Cadillac Ranch was created by millionaire artist Stanley Marsh in 1974 and features 10 graffiti Cadillacs buried in the ground in the middle of a corn field.

We made a last minute decision to change our route and experience the back roads of New Mexico.  We got off of the interstate and took a  country road headed for Roswell, New Mexico.  We found ourselves on a 2 lane road for a little over 2 hours.  The entire 2 hours we only passed about 5 other cars, didn't see a single gas station, and ran over about 25 tumbleweeds.  The scenery was beautiful, it truly was the wild wild west.

We made it to Roswell around 2pm.  Roswell is the site of the famous UFO crash site in 1947.  We didn't see any aliens like we hoped, but at least we could say we were there.

We headed north to Silver City and finally made it to my parents house around 7:30pm.  Here begins our New Mexico Norwegian Christmas.  We're getting ready for our traditional Norwegian Christmas Eve dinner.  We're having Swedish meatballs, boiled potatoes, and lots of cheese.  Christmas day were making rhubarb jam, lefse, and krumkake.
