Today we entered Kansas! Incredibly (to me) we have traveled 1500 miles in the saddle of a bicycle. Approximately 25 miles after departing Ash Grove, MO., we began to enter the plains of Kansas. Those consist of prairies, wheat and corn fields as well as a few dairy farms. The Blue Ridge, Appalacian, and Ozarks are behind us. We begin, I've been told, over the next week or so, a gradual climb to the Rockies.
Today we are in Pittsburg, KS where we will remain for a rest day tomorrow (Sunday). I am having my bicycle tuned up; but so far, no mechanical difficulties (nor flat tires).

Hello from the Broadwaters
It was great to talk to you on the phone today and I hope your group made it through the bad weather/tornado warnings unscathed. Many folks are asking for regular updates as to your progress and all are pleased to hear of your remarkable accomplishments thus far.
We had our annual Mexican Fiesta last night (in the rain as usual). Everyone had a great time and looks forward to returning the event to your home next year - it wasn't the same without you there.
Be careful. We look forward to hearing of your next ventures.
Chris, Hilaria, Emma Grace, Rose Kathron and Maggie Francis Broadwater

All's going well here. Lots of people ask about you (and especially how your trip is going). So far, I love the new job. You were certaintly right when you said 'when the phone rings, you'll never imagine the things you'll have to deal with on the other end.' Give me a call and I'll update you on all the stuff going on around here. Keep those legs going and good luck with the Rockies!

This is Jules. Sounds like things are going well. Just wanted to let you know about our weekend. We had some bad weather Saturday and a tree fell on our brand new camper. Three months to the date we brought it home. It is destroyed!!!! You take care and look forward to your journals. You write so well. It is like we are on the trip with you. Love you, Jules

Bummer about the rain. We've had our share of afternoon showers, but not 7 inches. I miss your motivation about riding my bike and getting my exercise. I know you are making a bunch of wonderful memories. Can't wait to hear about it all when you return. Take care, try to stay dry and be safe.
