After that we went back home and had swine axle, or pig knuckle, for dinner. It's basically a pig's elbow, but was pretty good. We had it at a place in Munich famous for the plate. We then went to the Hofbrahaus, the place where they serve the 1 liter beers in giant glass mugs. They had a Bavarian band playing and it was a lot of fun. Anyways, check out the pics below.
We rented a BMW 5-series and headed down the auto bahn with the Matt's and Mike today. Mike drove us through some small german towns, through the alps, into Austria for a bit, then back up through Germany to see theNeuschwanstein Castle. I have seen a lot of mountain ranges, but none of them compare with the Alps. They are INCREDIBLE. We just gawked out of the window for the 3 hours we were around them! The auto bahn was cool, and yes, there are areas with no speed limit. Especially outside. Mike got the beamer up to about 200 mph (just kidding parents and Pam!). We had a great time. We stopped on the way down at a little ski town with houses that have fairy tales painted on the outside walls (see below). I will have to get the name from Mike. We then went down to the castle. I have seen 4 palaces/castles to date in Europe, and this is the only one I could actually enjoy living in. It was, however, very much a man's castle. The king had it designed as his hunting castle, but died after only 30 percent was completed. It was very cool and there were ski towns all around, so I plan on coming back in a few years to conquer that.
