Historic Mobile
Finally after two days and a little over a thousand miles of driving we arrived in Mobile Alabama. We left Knoxville at 0845 and although there was heavy fog we were able to see the Sun Sphere and the Knoxville city skyline. We did however see little else in Tennessee or the small corner of Georgia that we drove through, but as we entered Alabama the fog lifted to reveal the 'Sweet Home' state.
On crossing the border from Georgia into Alabama we left Eastern Time and gained an hour by entering the Central Time zone. We did most of our journey on Interstate 65 a two lane freeway that dissects the state from North to South. After driving through the majority of the state on I65 (without any problems) we reached Mobile and its river delta at sunset (1630). It was both a beautiful and welcoming site, which marked the end of the first leg of our journey.
