Hi Everyone,

We found a cheap and extremely slow internet connection in Suva, so we can now afford to write everybody sooner than we thought. Also, for what it is worth, we still are trying to upload our photos, but have been surprisinly unorganized about it. We are working on it - its on Fiji time. Which, we have learned is a living breathing thing - Fiji time. Things just happen when they are supposed to, not necessarily when they are scheduled. So, we are cool about it, relaxed and will get you the photos pronto, Fiji time.

Anyway, the latest adventure had to do with me almost killing Jordan. The only thing that stopped me from enjoying immediate gratification of my desire to inflict bodily harm to him, included me restricted in a breathing appartus (aka scuba unit) descending after a backroll into 3ft+ swells and the 12ft+ bullshark below us. Yes, this might sound like a network tv drama, but instead it is a description of my VERY first dive after obtaining my open water diver certification. After, restricting my muderous impulses (for those of you who don't know, I largely learned to scuba to support Jordan's enthusiasm for the sport. Don't worry, I'll get back by making him ski), I was forced to either repress my desire for panic and continue descending to almost 90ft+ (yes, an open water diver is NOT certified to dive this deep) where there were at least another 4 sharks swimming around, or allow panic its due course and return to the surface where the swells and a surging boat may not see me. I made the judicious descision as one must do in such a situation and descended to watch the sharks and then suck my air as quickly as I could to make everybody we dove with have to come to the surface as quickly as possible. So, obvioulsy, despite this spouse-inflicted trauma, I survived and as pittance for my sufferings, Jordan offered up the helpful fact that I now have "a story" to tell. So next time I am siting around a campfire trying to act my machismo best, I'll tell the other friendly folks about my 1st dive descent into stormy shark-infested seas. I can hardly wait.

So, after that episode, and a number of beers later, I have nursed my emotional wounds and we have made our way along the southern Fijian coast (of Viti Levu) to Suva, its capital, where we learned that yes, McDonald's food continues to be consistent round the world. We also indulged in seeing the movie the Hulk. It turns out there is a lot less to do in Suva than our guidebooks let on. Now,we've got to bust a move for some cheap curry (yes, Vic, I know there is no such thing as "curry", but I swear it is written on all the menus down here - you'll have to come investigate).

So, that's it for now. We hope everyone is doing well. And for those of you with any passing interest, I actually did NOT inflict bodily harm onto Jordan. It must have been due to a slight oxygen deprivation at depth that made me reconsider such hasty actions. He is sitting here next to me, but, ain't nobody calling him chief.

Love to all and you can send your well wishes for my continued safety to jmoskoff2001@yahoo.com .

Lots of love,
Jan
