The ferry arrived at noon. 2 hours later we were clearing customs, never a pleasant experience. However, the Sudanese border patrol were friendly, full of smiles. After clearing customs Miles and I hit the market to purchase the basics; meat, bread, fruit and veg. As expected the markets are a little more sparse here, a lot of the produce comes from Egypt. We see a lot of eggplant, zucchini, beans, carrots, potatoes, onions, oranges and bananas. Gone are the cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage of Egypt.
First impressions of Sudan; cleaner and quieter than Egypt. The locals are a little more laid back, nobody hassling you. A beautiful sunset and a delicious platter of deep fried Tilapia finished the evening in style. I think I'll like it here.
