What a restful night. The sound of the surf really helps you sleep. The first time I woke up was just before sunrise at about 5 am! I know it sounds early, but it didn't matter. Looking out the window I still saw fog, but I also saw 4 lobster boats out in the harbor checking their traps. I was worried that we would have another dreary day, but the sun was peeking through the fog with the promise of burning it off.
We headed over to the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia National Park. We pulled over just past the entry sign and went for a very short hike. The water was pretty and it was just an all around beautiful day.
I needed to get some laundry done, so the girls and I were dropped off at the Downeast Laundromat in Ellsworth. While doing the laundry, the girls and I went to Marden's. This was quite the shopping experience. This place is a surplus store sort of like Big Lots, but with a different feel. Matt went to a local smoked seafood purveyor to pick up some local delicacies for road snacks.
Lunch was at Ruth and Wimpy's in Hancock, ME. There is a giant lobster out front and the lunch fare was pretty typical. The girls had chowder and fried clams. Matt and I tried lobster rolls. They were ok, not the best we had on the trip.
