Today was basically just a driving day.  We left after breakfast and headed north on 95.  Even though Connecticut is a smallish state, traffic was horrible and it seemed almost as big as Texas!

We did have one gastronomical destination in mind as we traveled today.  We stopped in Warwick, Rhode Island to eat at Iggy's Doughboys and Chowderhouse for a late lunch.  This was our first opportunity to taste the splendor of Northeast Coast delicacies.  The girls began their soon to be oft repeated theme of fried clams at nearly every meal habit.  We choose an outside table with a view of the water at Oakland Beach.  Our table was filled with:  New England clam chowder, fried clams, clam cakes, snail salad, french fries, and doughboys.  The clam chowder was soooo rich and tasty. The clams had the perfect amount of batter and I think were my favorite of the entire trip.  Clam cakes are basically a hush puppy with chunks of clams.  They were really good dunked into the clam chowder.  Matt's snail salad was mostly sliced snail.  It was very chewy and plentiful.

We were quite full and took our doughboys with us for dessert on the road.  Doughboys are much like beignets and believe me...you cannot eat just one!  Katie refused to even try one...oh well, more for the rest of us!

We arrived in Portland, ME around 7pm or so and just lazed about in the hotel.
