Hello All,

This past week my mom and grandma left Italy for the United States :(.  It was sad to see them go but I'll be seeing them very soon.  This weekend was very exciting.  Saturday night, Maggie, Nico, Rachel, Breanna, and I went to a Roma Soccer Game!  Rome's professional soccer team is called Roma and has one of the best professional soccer players, Francesco Totti.  They play at Stadio Olimpico! We had bought tickets a while ago and were so excited to go.  Nico, Maggie and I had our tickets printed and ready to go, however Breanna and Rachel had trouble with the website they bought them from but luckily someone in charge let them in!  Naturally, our seats were filled by random Italians probably trying to get better seats, so we just sat on the stairs.  It is so cool! Some people wave giant flags on both sides of Stadio Olimpico and it's funny to hear the Italians yelling at bad calls in Italian.  Its also wicked cool when they randomly burst into chants and songs...we should have looked up the chants beforehand.  Roma was playing Atalanta... Roma won as expected because Atalanta isn't very good.  That soccer game was so incredibly fun.

On Sunday, we went to Appia Antica.  Basically we went into more of Rome's ancient catacombs where 500,000 people were buried.  We then had a Palm Sunday mass in the catacombs with Father John which was really cool.  After that we rented our bicycles and set off onto Appia Antica, which is a very old road that leads to Puglia eventually.  At first we thought it would be easy, but then we realized that we were biking on cobblestones...and worse is the giant rocks that don't connect and aren't flat.  I have never had a more bouncy biking experience.  But it was an absolute blast to ride a bike and have lunch on the countryside.  This weekend was one of the best that I've spent in the city of Rome.
