another long day on the bus :( travel southward I believe from Canakkale (ka-knock-a-lee) to Bergama Akropol (Pergamon) a city which lasted for about 150 years built up after the destruction of Troy. And evidently, the place where parchment paper was invented. Allegedly, they had the second largest library next to Alexandria so the king of Egypt prohibited the export of papyrus (which was the paper used for scrolls at the time) to the Bergama kingdom...so they had a need add some ingenuity and the result was parchment. Tomorrow is Ephesus. Read your bibles, Saint Paul's letter to the Ephesians. P/s for those who are commenting on my blurry pictures, I must admit that is most likely my fault but I will not accept the blame. I blame the Turks, they will not allow the use of a tripod. Considered "professional" and you must obtain proper credentials to use (ie press pass etc) not to mention the dreary weather, I have my camera set to "night setting" which of course means long exposures and then I hold really still while holding my breath. best I can do LOL.
