Hi Everyone,

We went out for dinner last night (Thursday, March 3rd)at a local restaurant off the Gulf in Carrabelle. We were pleasantly surprised with their menu item of fresh Mahi-Mahi grilled, cajun, or fried for a fish sandwich basket; we all ordered this for dinner and it was delicious. We also had a mixed green salad with a raspberry vinegarette dressing on the side. Since we were parked right on the coast of the gulf we went to bed with a very nice breeze blowing throuht the RV; however waking up to a very cooler, gustier wind throughout the night.

We took off from Carrabelle, Florida (Friday, March 4th) with 26 knots of wind (30 mph) from the open gulf with a tailwind pushing us into Lillian, Alabama, with the tailwind saving us big on gas mileage too! Our destination was the Lost Bay KOA campground on Perdido Bay on the gulf in the state of Alabama. After arriving here we also came in with a mechanical problem with the truck and not the right tools on hand to repair it, so we are staying here a few days longer than planned while the truck is getting repaired.

When we woke up this morning (Saturday, March 5th), the weather was cool, rainy and windy. Since the weather was so crummy (don't mean to rub it in) we rented a car and toured the area. We found our way to Florabama, (an establishment in Orange Beach, AL), that claims to be built on the Florida/Alabama state line. They had live entertainment playing southern/country music, as well as serving the most delicious freshly caught and prepared red shrimp and raw oysters in the half shell.

Today (Sunday, March 6th) we woke up to to a rather cool morning (36 degrees)and actually had to have the heat on in the RV! Nancy & I did our laundry and we basically stayed at the campground and rested with enjoying the hot tub later in the afternoon. With the weather being so cool and rainy we had a couple of crockpot meals for dinner the last couple of days instead of grilling or going out to eat. We watched the rerun of Forrest Gump and went to bed early.

Today, (Monday, March7th) we got up and had a great breakfast. Nancy & I decided it was time for some exercise so we did a fast walk and biked in and around the RV park. Barry & Bob rode their bikes on the highway and went about 10 miles to get their heart rates up! When they returned we decided to go golfing for the afternoon as the weather was better with sunny skies and a low wind and tolerable. We found a nice little course in Foley, AL and golfed 18 holes. When we got back we went to enjoy the hot tub and had a late dinner of hamburgers on the grill.

This morning (Tuesday, March 8th) we got a call that the truck was ready to be picked up, so the guys went to get it. We plan on leaving Lillian, AL today and are heading to the western gulf shore of Mississippi.

On the road again,

That's too bad about the truck - but it sounds like you definately made the best of that situation. Good food, a nice respite, and a game of golf... sounds great! As for the weather... Burrrr! That would be cold for here - and I'm sure it's cold for Alabama!!

Sounds like an adventure for sure.
Friday night we went to see the Broadway show "HAIR". It was cool outside but it all heated up quickly as we forgot that the whole cast was NUDE before the intermission. Wow, what a show!!! We made a quick trip home........
