Tony and I were part of the Commuter experience in Portugal this morning. The sun was just coming over the hill as we headed to the Airport to pick up Mike and Debbie. The Rattler was covered with dew, each drop glistening in the sunshine. It is 7:30. It is a gorgeous morning.

Our timing was perfect. Tony pulled into a parking spot, I ran in to our meeting point at the airport and there they were, two weary travellers with big smiles on their faces. We are glad to see them. We, Tony and I, were nervous that The Rattler wouldn't hold all of us and luggage, but piece of cake, the Provan's have packed light! Off we went to Penedo with a stop to pick up fresh out of the oven, Brioche. Yummy!

We just had that last climb up the winding hill before we could put on the kettle for tea! This is where it got interesting for Mike and Deb. I am sure they wonder why we travel on roads that are only made for one small car, but manage to handle two, barely. There were only two incidents en route today that "flashed their lives before their eyes", they are troupers. It is my hope deep down inside that Mike is secretly wanting and anxiously waiting to get behind the wheel of his own Rattler and be the race car driver he truly is!

The day passed quickly. Catching up on: their flight - was pleasant but they were delayed one hour due to a fuel leak, a bit disconcerting when everyone had to deplane; all things at home - everyone is great, snow still falling though in Bracebridge; what we had been doing here and what with showing them around the villa and absorbing the surroundings and the sun, the day flew by.  With jet lag looming we went from tea to a nap, lunch and Sangria on the deck overlooking the villages and surf below, a nap by the pool and then sitting and watching Tony BBQ our dinner with Mikes assistance. Remember those chickens? They were delicious along with roasted veggies, fresh bread and melt in your mouth velvety new baby potatoes.

To get to dinner though, Tony had to do three cycles of charcoal, first grilling all of the veggies, then each chicken. He loved it. As you can see it is not a large area. He had spent a lot of time yesterday getting things set up and his hard work paid off. We all are wearing "Eau de Charcoal", highly recommended.

It is getting late in the evening, Euchre was won by the boys, by a point or two, a glass of Port, strawberries and chocolate - time for bed. Tomorrow will come soon.

What? It is only 9:30!

15 cm of snow predicted her or tomorrow. Re opening of Rideau Canal for skating hoped for on the weekend, soon everyone will be driving Hyundais, your pensions will be handled by Kathleen Wynn and we will be paying duty on Heinz products! STAY THERE! I am moving with my cross country skis on Friday to a hut in Algonquin park! No mail, paper delivery or internet! If I'm going to be fed to the wolves, I am choosing the day!
