We decided to take it easy yesterday and slept in, not leaving for the drakensberg mountains (4hrs away from Pretoria) til around 1pm so yesterday we pretty much just got lost but managed to find an amazing hostel called Isokana???. It was a gorgeous lodge just at the base of the mountain range and only took 5min to get to the hiking trails that the owner recommend. So this morning we were up early and on the mountain hiking by 9am. It apparently was suppose to take us 4-6hrs depending on the speed we were going but since we also wanted to make it to Durban today which was another 2hrs away we had to book it! The mountain range was gorgeous and the weather turned out to be great once the cloud had burnt away/ we hiked above it. The shirt monster came out fairly early and the tans were greatly enhanced haha, plus we got some good exercise. We managed to see a good chunk of the Drakensberg, which is a world heritage site, by doing a path called blind mans corner, which is about 12km long, and it only took us 3hrs! But we were trucking. The scenery was of course fantastic and we even got to see some baboons although at one point a giant falling rock, which was released by one of the lil bastards, almost hit us! It fell about 20ft and bounced right between Cory and I, missing us by a few feet. It was pretty scary as we were at the top and definitely would have broken some bones or knocked us off the side. But we survived to tell the tale and by 12:30pm we were off to Durban. We stayed right on the beach just on the outskirts of Durban, which was fine, and it had a decent beach that we relaxed on til the sun went down. We had been in Durban briefly before with John but we didn't really do anything, so naturally to get a good grip of a city you must…go to the casino! Haha. Whilst going to the casino however we got to drive by the soccer stadium, another one off the list, which was cool to see. Their casino wasn’t that big but the atmosphere was good, so we decided to play some Blackjack. We won some, we lost some but we came out on top and had a great night in the warmest city in South Africa. As a sign said coming into town, "That’s not the humidity that you are feeling…It’s the AYOBA!"
