After another morning in the jungle of bathing Mei Kamkoon (this time no falling off) we say our goodbyes to the guys at the camp and head off with Lei for a short trek in the jungle. We walk down beside the river (Claire embarrassing Jo with outbursts of songs from the Disney film Pocahontas; "I look once more, just around the river beeeend") and over bridges past huge waterfalls and rapids. Lei takes the piss out of Claire for her constant "ow, ow" when she gets bitten by ants or nearly falls in the water.
After a little while the serenity is broken when we find ourselves at the main event, a waterfall turned pool with a line of stalls along side. Back to civilization! Lei is straight into the water, climbing the small waterfall and swinging on a rope doing somersaults into the water, any onlooker would have thought that we were the guides and he was on holiday
After a rubbish lunch (compared to the food in the jungle) we get driven back to Luang Prabang. The rest of the day we do stuff that isn't worth writing or reading about.
The next morning we decide that we should visit the temple. To get there we climb Phu Si which is a lot of steps up but worth it for the beautiful views all over Luang Prabang. There are women selling caged birds to set free and people quietly praying. After taking some pictures of the golden Buddha statues, we make our way back down the other side of Phu Si and go to the embassy to extent our visa. We book our bus tickets to Phonsavan for the next day (7hrs) and end the day by talking about how we weren't too blown away by Luang Prabang, (but this is probably because Nong Khiaw is hard to beat), whilst drinking Lao Lao and playing cards by the river.
