A new place!

So first thing (i.e. 11am) we move our stuff to Dan's place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. His old flat mate hasn't moved out yet so we just dump our stuff and walk across the Williamsburg Bridge back into Manhattan. Everything runs across this bridge so subway trains, cars, bikes and people all trundle past us as we meander across.

Mid-afternoon Jo heads over to Dixons place, having given Claire a quick briefing on 'how to use the map' over a mexican lunch (see photo - taco van!), and letting her loose on the Soho shops. Jo is helping Lori E Seid with a show one of her friends, Diana, is performing that night. Its a great piece; a monologue about Diana's reflections on being attacked by a schizophrenic 3 years ago in... Brooklyn. Oh. Oh I see...
Claire to Jo (during closing applause): 'Shall we get a cab home?'

But we don't. (As its two stops and only 10:30pm.)

When me make into our new home we meet Dan's friend Victoria who is lovely and we chat in the garden until the best thing that day happens... we meet Frida.
Frida is less than half a foot long, tall or wide and has eyes that are about 30% of her face. She is a chihuahua but her temperate suggests that there is deer in her heritage somewhere. Jo and Claire stroke her little bald head as she shivers in fear (of everything) and declare that she is so ugly she is cute to which Dan replies... 'She will bite you' (quite a lot of certainty there).

We sit out until late in the Garden area looking forward to unpacking tomorrow.

OBSERVATIONS OF THE DAY

In New York there are hundreds of pets and most rental apartments accept that people will want one. (We have never seen more obese English Bulldogs in our lives).
Dan's place comes with 3 pets (4 if you count the fish but we don't as he hasn't been formally introduced to us). Frida is only visiting when Victoria stays here but the stable residents are the turtle/terrapin, and Sam and Edie the cats. Photos of all will follow when they each sit still long enough to get a photograph.
