Today we enter into our second month of travel, and today is Canada Day! We celebrated by going on a hike in a forest that kind of reminded us of the Kananaskis trails. It was a short hike, but a very nice one. We were hiking from a small town called Trisov, about 22km from Budweis, to a castle built from 1349-1360. The castle looked more like ruins, but we love ruins! There was a river on one side and a brook on the other. There were animals guarding this castle too, but unlike Cesky Krumlov, they weren't fierce bears, they were goats! Jess had fun taking pictures of the guard goats, especially the babies.

The train was over a half hour late on the way back to Budweis so we had to move pretty quick to get back to our hostel to pick up our bags. We were warned about the late small town trains on Sunday afternoons, but we had not yet become victims until today. We put our 23kg children (we call our backpacks our children) on our backs, grabbed our food bags and made a B-line for the train station in 32 degree celcius weather. We made it by about 30 seconds. Phew, we have 2.5 hours now to recover on our way to Prague. Happy Canada Day everyone!
