We were going to try and take it a bit easy today with the walking but we ended up walking tons. We just couldn't help ourselves, there was so much to see but most of it was do-able in one day. We decided to opt out on going in the Hohensalzburg Fortress, which is the big site to see in Salzburg, because in a few days we will be taking a tour of the Walt Disney castle in Fussen Germany. But, we walked along a ridge that surrounds Salzburg to a point that gives the best view of the entire fortress.

Today's moment of the day was unplanned, which was probably what made it so cool. While we were walking along the ridge, we came to a point that had a great view of all of Salzburg and was shaded under a huge tree and had benches, so we stopped to eat lunch. There are many churches in Salzburg and most of them ring their bells every 3 hours, but at noon they ring them extra long. So right after we started eating lunch, we heard in stereo, all the church bells of Salzburg ringing together. Some started a bit ahead of the others, and some lasted a bit longer, but we had the perfect spot to hear them all and see each church as it joined the chorus.

We also saw two horse baths (fountains made for horses to walk in), and Mozart's birthplace and residence, among other things. Tomorrow it's off to Germany. Goodbye Austria.

We are amazed every entry we read what a trip you and Jess are having. The history, building, breath taking sites & the unexpected surprises (church bells). I would love to hear the church bells ringing, reminds me of the movie "Sound of Music".
Miss you both
Love you always
