With our new found skills in Bucharest travel, and a little help from our hostel host, Jess and I rode the subway to Gara de Nord train station to travel to Brasov. We planned to spend 4 or 5 hours in a place called Sinaia, which was a stop on the train line to Brasov. From what Jess had researched about this place it looked amazing and it definitely didn't disappoint! The train ride in itself was amazing to see the countryside, and we sat across from an English couple who were as delighted as we were to have a conversation in our own language! When we got to Sinaia, we locked up our bags and started our self-guided tour of a picturesque little town on a mountainside full of castles that overlooked valleys. Most of the town had old cottage-syle houses and hotels that were connected with winding cobble-stone streets. The climax of the town was the huge Peles Castle built in the late 1800s. It was built lower down on the mountainside and overlooked a huge wide grassy meadow below. It had hundreds of sculptures with amazing detail, turrets complete with cannons, and a garden and courtyard in front. I quite enjoyed this place! When we were done there, we continued our train ride to Brasov, where we are planning on spending two nights.
