Sadly, the price of beer has risen.  Nepal's supposed to be 'so cheap' but I felt like all my money went to food and drink.  They trick you with cheap rooms.  Really, though, the food in Nepal was incredible and I'd pay double what I did and do it all over again. Actually I'm thinking of returning in May!

As for the weight, I think that last drop might be a faulty scale.  I think I'm really just maintaining now.  Or, I dropped a lot trekking but probably gained back a lot stuffing myself with cheap steak and ice cream in Kathmandu.

Back at the beginning of this blog I suggested that when traveler's complain that such-and-such a place is 'so expensive' or such-and-such a country is so cheap, that what they really refer to is the price of beer.  Thus, Mish Johnston suggested that I provide a running beer-o-currency-travel-meter.

I published this same entry back in August while traveling through the Xinjiang province of China.  I feel obligated to update now that I've traveled through Nepal.  Expect another update when I leave India ;).

Kirby...
You are living a kick ass dream! It must be fabulous to see all of Asia in greater detail than most people could dream of.
