Where I stayed
What I did
Hi there
Today, we spent the morning catching up on sleep and relaxing, flying through the night makes for a difficult day. When we finally got motivated, we took a cab down to Connaught Place.
Connaught place is the heart of shopping in New Delhi, it is the commercial hub of Delhi, and was built in 1931. The construction is a Victorian style, and it is very interesting because all the shops are planned in an inner and outer circle. We did not even begin to put a dent in seeing all the shops this area has to offer, and it is quite a mix, from the very expensive up on the main street, to the street markets, where you can always find a great knock off, to the underground Bazaar as they call it. The bazaar was interesting and fun to weave our way through, everything is negotiable, tailors are ready and available on the spot, and it is shop after shop of continuous negotiating! When you come out of the underground bazaar, there is a huge park on top of it, neat idea!
We spent about four hours milling around the area, before coming back to our hotel to get ready for our early morning start. tomorrow we are heading out to Agra, which is where the Taj Mahal is, we are leaving early, and spending the night in Agra.
The weather is quite nice so far, perfect not too hot, not too cold, we have found everybody to be really nice and helpful so far, but man is it ever busy, non stop horns here too. If I understood correctly, there are 19 million people living in Delhi, that makes for some nasty traffic jams!
That's all for now folks, goodnight!
