HI there
Well after yesterdays interesting fiasco, I was looking forward to a relaxing day... Last night we ended up getting a room at the Free House, as our booking for Cactus Bungalows, apparently never happened, but remember I in yesterdays blog I said at least we have a bed.... Well we had to get two villas as they only have one bed in them and they are very small rooms. So Zandréa and I shared a villa, which is essentially a room with a bed and a washroom. The floor was a slab of concrete, no flooring, and the walls were a dingy grey color scattered with patches of mould. There was a torrential rain storm all night that stopped at 7:00 am; the roof of our villa was a sheet of tin, no insulation. So I did not get a wink of sleep in between the storm and the fact that our roof was leaking...you guessed it right on our bed. Zandréa however managed to sleep through it all. Alan and Mikkel had the deluxe air conditioned jail cell oops! I mean room. What a fun night, so at 8:00am, we are out there trying to figure out what happened to our reservation at the Cactus Bungalow, we are walking the beach trying to find a place to stay for the next nine days. I think in the end, someone was looking out for us when our reservation got messed up, because the place was a bit of a dive, and we ended up finding an incredible place on the beach, with 3 pools and amazing amenities. So here we are now staying at Samui Palm Beach Resort, for really not much more money than the other place, and it is beautiful, breakfast included.
Once we settled in, we had lunch and went for a walk in town, this is a resort town, so all the store fronts cater to the food industry and guided tours, from what we have seen so far. The area we are staying in is on Bo Phut Beach.
Alan and the kids went swimming, when we got back from our walk, I did some reading by the pool, finally it is relaxing time...I hope. To make sure nothing could happen to spoil my desire to relax, Alan and I went for a one hour full body coconut oil Thai massage. It was absolutely, incredibly wonderful. I think I could get use to treating myself to one of these daily! Alan is convinced his masseuse hates men, by the way she was beating on him and manipulating his body, mine on the other hand certainly had no problem with women!
Back from our massages, we made our way to the resort restaurant for supper, the food is delicious, most of it under $6.00 for a main course meal.
So here is hoping, we can settle in to our little paradise of Ko Samui without any further surprises.
Enjoy the pictures!
Goodnight.
