Hello
I think I have found the next best thing to heaven... Bali! We woke up this morning, to the roosters, birds and a whole symphony of creatures, what a beautiful song. We spent the morning enjoying our gorgeous villa and the surroundings. We ordered breakfast, which is delivered to our villa. When it arrived, they proceeded to set a beautiful table for us with bowls of fresh fruit and fresh squeezed juices (watermelon, papaya, orange, honey melon), it was absolutely scrumptious.
We took a quick dip in the pool, enjoying the great weather and sun before we start our day. At around noon, we left for the centre of Ubud to check out the markets. What an experience, this in my opinion was far better than any markets I have ever been to. The deals were just waiting for me! I also figured out that if it is close to closing time and they have not yet made a sale, you can get an unbeatable deal (this would explain why I came back with four dresses), as it is very bad luck for them not to at least make one sale.
We had lunch at a restaurant down by the markets, very interesting meals, we all decided to forego burgers and fries to try Balinese food, it was quite satisfying. The markets were exhausting in a way, the vendors are relentless, and it is so difficult to say no. In fact, a polite no thank you, really does not mean anything, I needed to just walk away, which seems so rude. Zandréa however is quite good at it, she uses a pretty firm No thank you and pulls me away.
We left the markets around 5:00 p.m, and came back to our villa. The driver who gave us a ride home from the market, not really a taxi, basically they are just guys with cars and you negotiate a price. Anyhow, we talked with him, and he is picking us up tomorrow morning, and will drive us all over Bali tomorrow (about 8 hours) for $50.00. This should be interesting, we have a list of places we want to see, and he also knows of interesting sites we should see. So, stay tuned for tomorrow, should be an interesting day.
This evening, Alan and the kids went swimming in the larger lap pool down at the reception area, and I watched and wrote in my journal. It is such a beautiful place; you could just sit back and take it all in forever.
Goodnight!
