Where I stayed
What I did
Hello
Left our campground around 11:00 this morning, and made our way to the city centre to check out this little city of Christchurch. We walked around a mall for a while, and stopped to have lunch, looks like a nice city, with a lot of history.
We then made our way to Adrenaline Forest. Adrenaline Forest is a series of rope bridges, Tarzan Swings, and flying foxes from platforms built in trees. The platforms go from 3 to 20 metres in the air. There are six different courses, and each course adds a level of height and challenge.
I being afraid of heights, have no idea why I even tried this. I guess I am always afraid that I will miss out on something spectacular. So off we go, get our harnesses, our safety briefing (lasted about 2 minutes) and then according to them we are ready to be let loose on our own in the forest. No Worries! So my adventurous family decides we are skipping course #1, so we are off straight to #2, being the team player my parents taught me to be, I decide sure I can do that, take one for the team! Well, by the time I reached the second platform of course #2, I am looking back at Alan (who agreed to stay behind me), and begging him to help me find a way down from this hell they call fun. Unfortunately, that is not possible, unless I want to embarrass myself and yell "rescue", so they come get me down! Somehow (eyes closed), using every bit of strength I had, both mentally and physically, I made it to the end of course #2, which I might add takes a good thirty minutes. Clearly, I was never a monkey in another life!
Once on the ground, there was no way I was going back up. So that was the end of my Adrenaline Forest ADVENTURE. As their ad reads, “Test your limits, Conquer your fear” – well my limits have been tested, but the fear has definitely not been conquered.
Alan, Mikkel and Zandréa, of course kept on testing their limits, so off they went to course #3 and beyond... I became the on the ground photographer, which does no justice for the heights they were at. In fact they were so high, that once they reached course #5 & 6, I had to leave, I could not even watch to take the pictures anymore. I was just to freaked out!
Adrenaline Forest over, we went to a new campground for the night. I went for a run, up to 30 minutes no breaks, I will keep going with this and see what happens. I actually enjoy the solitude and the fact that it allows me to see places differently. Had a late supper, and now Alan and the kids are gone swimming.
Tonight is our last night in our cozy little abode, tomorrow we return the motor home and check into a hotel, to prepare for our early morning flight to Bali on the 15th.
Until tomorrow sweet dreams!
