Today started out like any other day with John Pinard...at Starbucks, we then boarded the trolley for a tour around the city, we headed towards the National Cathedral,it was magnificent! We saw tons of embassies and got off of the trolley at Lafayette Park. We walked across the park as the colorful leaves fell on us from the trees, (I felt like I was in a LL Bean catalog) we walked towards the south gate of the White House, it was just like I imagined, white and regal, We walked all the way around to the North lawn where the Easter Egg roll is held, the trees on the grounds of the White House are beautiful. I waited too late to get a Tour of the inside.... So we settled on the White House Visitors Center ....interesting.
We saw on the Food Network that no visit to DC is complete without eating at Ben's Chili Bowl (think Pink's in LA). Ben was a man from Trinidad who came to America, married an American woman and opened up a restaurant 50 years ago.  There were scores of celebrity pictures and a sign that said," Bill Cosby, Michelle, Sasha and Malia Obama eat free!  But Barak has to pay!" Another good local dive!  After lunch we went to the museum for shallow people...The Smithsonian Museum of American History... I skipped all the way there!  We saw Kermit the Frog, Dorthey's ruby slippers and Archie Bunker's Chair..... Jaxson asked, "Who is Archie Bunker? to which John answered, "imagine Pop Sonny on TV".  We also saw the First Ladies Exhibit and they had a huge exhibit of Julia Child's actual kitchen..... So cool! We left the museum (and let me add there were not lines at any of the major attractions...IE-White House, Lincoln Monument etc..... but there was a line for the Pop Culture Exhibit... there are people out there just like me!).  We jumped back on the trolley and went around town, drove by the Ford Theatre and the Watergate complex, and then decided to go hangout in Georgetown and check out the shopping & food...quaint little area....we had dinner at a great local place, Clyde's, good steaks, good wine, good night!

Thoughts by Jaxson: Day 3

Today we got up and of course, went to Starbucks!  Then we caught the hop-on hop-off tour and took it to the White House.  There were some Secret Service agents there who kept looking at me...I'm suspious!  I will live there someday...as President....don't they know that!
Then we went to Ben's Chili Bowl for lunch...famous restarurant that has been in business for 50 years!  I had a burger, fries, and a bowl of chili...YUM!  Left there and caught a train to The Museum of American History  (more like TV artifacts, but my Mom was exicited)...it was fun to see how excited my Mom got upon seeing Dorthy's (from the Wizard of Oz) shoes.

We then took the trolley around for a while....saw another kid rolling up windows...what's up with that...decided to roll up my window!  I don't like window people!

Went to Georgetown for shopping & dinner taking the submway and a cab to finish the trip.  We shopped and I got a new shirt from Ralph Lauren's "Rugby" store.  It has a bulldog on it.  After a struggle at a picking a restarurant we finally ate at place called "Clyde's"...I had a burger & fries...my favorite foods!
