After the big race me and the cheersquad checked out the local art galleries, got covered in longen juice (longens are like lychees but yellowy and not as sweet) and then crashed Nigel's place for relazation!

There we entertained ourselves with chocolate, chicken wings, massage chairs and yoga! There was also an old Atari game there called Mappy! You control a small mouse that has to collect things, bounce on panels and keep away from cats! Gen was by far the best but I insisted we stay until I beat her high score... eventually I did!

We parted and I went back to Gen's place for a shower before I headed to Little India for dinner with her parents!

When we walked into the restaurant the Executive Chef remembered me straight away and came over to say hello! He's cool!

We ordered lots and had curried fish head amongst the other great dishes! Mmm... As I was leaving my friend even passed me his email address! I gave him a MAGGY'S card and we parted ways!

Again Little India was absolutely packed with people - Indians who have come to work in Singapore and earn the stronger dollar. As they are all male workers and their common day off is Sunday it is basically a big party where they control the streets, traffic and atmosphere! It's all harmless, just a bit intimidating to start with! Very vibrant!

Then we headed to Geylang which, as was pointed out to me, has quite a few red light districts! But we headed to a stretch of road - again densly populated (as tomorrow is a public holiday and everywhere is partying!) - to the local fruit market so that I could try Durian - the 'King of Fruits' is Asia!

Durian is a spikey, breadfruit like thing which, when spilt open reveals the slimy, yellow, pipped part which you consume. I took a piece and chomped it... I had been told that you either love it hate it... I think I have to side with the latter... I don't even know what to compare it with! Custard apple texture... nahh... you just gotta try it! But for me it doesn't really give me that 'fruity' sensation...

As we sat at these tables at the side of the road with countless others it dawned on me what a fabulous place it was! No alcohol, no coffee, no cigarettes even! Everyone was gather together, mingling, eating fresh off the tree fruit! Try finding such a place so vibrant, so bustling, so busy on a Sunday night anywhere else in the world! I've never seen it anywhere! Go FRUIT!

The night ended with me discovering mangosteens and eating about fifty thousand of them! Gen's mum and dad are champs - thanks!
