Buenos Dias! The rain in Spain falls mainly .....in Alicante. Can you believe it - we had a rainy day today. We slept well last night - not a lot of movement - I think that we only traveled a bit then set anchor and waited until the early a.m. to travel the last distance to our port in Alicante. We weren't in a hurry to go ashore - but did want to see what Alicante was like. We had breakfast then took our time getting ready to go. It was not raining real hard - but the wind was blowing and that made for a mess. Our little umbrellas served their purpose as best as possible and we were thankful that our jackets were of the all-weather type.
We walked around a bit - most everything was closed - we found an internet café to use until they lost their internet connection - then we walked around for about an hour more and then made our way back to the ship for a late lunch and to warm up.
Alicante would be beautiful on a nice day - the promenade is lovely - you will see photos (the only photos I took) and the boardwalk is also very nice. The shops and sidewalks are nice looking and everything is very clean - all positives for this city on the Mediterranean.
Had a nice dinner tonight - it was 'Surf and Turf' night. Lobster tails and Filets. It was pretty good. We are really lucky to have nice and interesting people to dine with each night - we have truly enjoyed our conversations.
Tomorrow we set our clocks back one hour - and Sunday we are at sea - the upcoming weather report is that there is some bad weather in the Atlantic - but the Captain is planning on keeping us far enough South so that we have as smooth of a crossing as possible - nice of him to care! We should have an easy path to the Grand Canary Islands and shouldn't have any problems reaching our last port before the crossing.
Adios.
