. Next was St. Francis - we really like this wine and this was a beautiful setting. We were having so much fun here that this ended up being the last one of the day - before we knew it - the bells were tolling - and it was 5 p.m. The tasting rooms are basically only open from 11 - 5. The girl that served us at St. Francis is half Costa Rican - we didn't believe her at first as she is Irish - with the name Sheehy. Turns out her grandfather was the Port Master in Limon many years ago. Originally from Ireland, her grandparents still live in San Jose and she visits often. We had a great time talking about Costa Rica with her. We also really enjoyed the wines - Jim picked up a bottle of Port here - he is looking forward to drinking it. We also visited a really great shop called Sonoma Dog Camp. I had looked at their web site and noticed that they were featuring German Short-hair Pointers - so we stopped and we showed them a few photos of Choco and they too think he is for certain that and could be mixed with Chocolate Lab - but they really saw the GSP face in him. We picked up a thing or two here as well....They had their three 'GSP' 's in the store - They were really sweet.
It was time for dinner - we were tired. We really enjoyed the landscape and scenery in Sonoma and are looking forward to Napa tomorrow.
Our first day of wine tasting....Sonoma Valley. We have picked a few wineries to try and we will see how well we do - and if anything else catches our attention. A good idea is to eat lunch first - so we found a little cantina in downtown Sonoma and guess what they were advertising....Cerveza de Imperial!!! Jim had to have one - it tasted just like the ones back home. After a quick lunch we were off - Gundlach Bundschu was first on our list. This was the red wine that I had chosen for Jim's 60th birthday party - so we thought that would be interesting. We enjoyed the wine there and bought a couple of bottles - we soon realize that this could present a problem with our luggage being almost at a maximum.... I won't go into all of the wineries that we stopped at - but Denny - when we drove by Blackstone - we knew we had to stop - they have some wonderful special Vintners Reserve that you can only buy there - and those were the ones that we tried. We thought of you while we were drinking it
