We were a bit tired after the long drive up the coast but we managed to get going as early as possible. We drove into Monterey and first went to Fisherman's Wharf - we walked around there and every restaurant has a representative standing outside giving out sample of Clam Chowder - they tell you to try the best and decide where you would like to eat based on the chowder. That meant that it was Jim's decision and we decided on the Old Fisherman's Grotto. They also had a great crab menu and that was sounding really good. We had a nice seafood lunch and then we walked around the harbor - there were nice walking and bike trails and it wasn't too hot - there was a nice breeze. We saw a little cove with some cute little Harbor Seals and we had fun watching them play around. Next we went to Cannery Row and walked around there - more shops and restaurants - and a really cute dog boutique...Chateau de Paws... Choco got a nice new collar.... We wanted to spend the afternoon in Carmel-By-The-Sea - so we were off there next. A very quaint and charming little town in somewhat of a forest setting - the shops and restaurants and cafes line the streets and this is a very dog-friendly town where there are as many dogs on the street as there are people. Dogs are welcome in the shops, restaurants and hotels and there were two really great dog boutiques there...Diggity Dog and Mackies Parlour. Choco made out there too...he will be the best looking dog in Costa Rica - no clothes for him though - Mango, Turrona and 'The Barkers' might make fun of him - he got a harness for the car, a couple more leashes, collars and toys. Don't worry Will - there will still be a 'prise or two for you - Choco isn't getting them all. We then headed back to Monterey - we thought we would go back and have a drink on the wharf. We enjoyed a drink - walked a bit more and then we were going to head back to Carmel for dinner - but decided that we didn't want to go far and the bartender recommended a good local place for pizza - and we thought that sounded good - Jason - Mom - I'm sure you would like to see a photo of pizza...so we went to Gianni's. The pizza was very great - but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we had to leave it behind.... Tomorrow we are heading North yet again.....
