Where I stayed
Green Leaf Guesthouse
We stayed last night and tonight at the Greenleaf Guesthouse in Pak Chong, right next to the Khao Yai National Park. Today, we went on a 12+ hour wildlife safari in the park with an experienced guide (the "Birdman") named Nine.
It was a great trek! Nine had great ears and eyes and we saw a bunch of animals:
-Gibbons (MONKEYS!!) We saw a family of gibbons and then some loners.
-Hornbills We saw a few different kind of these big birds which are very noisy.
-Barking deer. Yes, they're deer and they bark.
-Porcupines. They were shy.
-Other animals that I didn't get the names of.
-Giant squirrels.
-Monitor Lizards.
-and OLIPHAUNTS! Actually, just one elephant but he was wild, not abused, and very cool.
We were going to go trekking in Chang Mai and see some hill tribes, but after researching and getting the description of "Human zoos" we decided on Khao Yai instead. I'm very glad.
At the guesthouse, they have a drumset. Neil and I found the guy who had the instruments and we both got to play some drums and a little guitar. It felt great!!! Neil had some extra time, though, since I had to take a break for some boweling.
